The Penta SATA HAT harnesses the M.2/PCIe interface on Radxa's ROCK Boards* to furnish a maximum of 5 SATA ports. It is essential to note that this HAT exclusively supports the Rock Pi 4 configuration when mounted on the designated heat sink.
The rationale behind adopting a configuration featuring 4 internal SATA ports and one eSATAp connection stems from its capacity to enhance flexibility in accommodating external disks within the setup.

| eSATAp | To fully take advantage of the 5th SATA port, an eSATA connector was implemented which can be exported e.g. out of the case. The eSATA connector provides both data and power. It can directly drive a 3.5-inch HDD via a single cable. |
| Performance | The Penta SATA HAT is powered by the JMB585 with 2 lanes and 5Gbs PCIe buses with up to 10Gbps bandwidth. With 5 SSDs configured in Raid0 mode, a speed of up to 803MB/s can be achieved. |
